In Indian mythology, Mother Nature is epitomized as Goddess Durga, who protects us from the evil from all ten sides. She and God Shiva – the epitome of wisdom – are the one and same, just like fire and flame. However, the Bengalis also see her as a daughter of the family, married to Shiva, and who comes to visit her parents from her heavenly abode once a year. So, when she leaves for her own abode in Mount Kailash, the elderly mother anh other females feed the daughter and also pray for her safety during the long journey. Want photos like these?
